My 20-page photo book, Ethereal, is an artistic exploration of human figures. The portrayal of various subjects captured in fragmented moments of romanticised reality offers narrative elaboration for the viewer. I wanted to avoid traditional or modelling portraiture, instead, focusing on a more artistic approach. My aim was to create unique and surreal moods within my photos, incorporating meaningful props, fashion and minimalistic make-up styling. The colour palette incorporates both warmer and cooler tones, though all subdued and moody. Additionally, I incorporated harsh artificial lighting, specifically reds, greens and teals to contrast the more natural and dark colours. For editing, I used Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. The concepts behind my photos were influenced by photography in fashion photo books. Surrealistic and artsy creators such as Tim Walker, Antwaun Sargent and Mario Sorrenti highly inspired my work.
