Cinematography

FLOW

'Flow' is a dance film following a young woman on her journey to the afterlife

Creative Process: Initially, I  selected, edited and mixed the music before creating the choreography. Following this, I chose a location for filming and storyboarded the types of camera angles and transitions I wanted to use, using myself as the dance model. Finally, I filmed and edited the footage, creating the final product of which you see today (video above).

Special Thanks: to Lola Paulsford, the dancer/performer of my choreography in 'Flow'

SLEEP PARALYSIS

'Sleep Paralysis' is a dance film depicting the haunting of a young girl by her sleep paralysis demon. Choreographically exploring the phenomenon of sleep paralysis, I used various elements of dance to portray the types of hallucinations and strange experiences that can occur during an episode.

Creative Process: After experiencing it myself, I chose and researched the topic of sleep paralysis, creating a choreographic analysis in which I explained how I would use dance to explore the sleep disorder. From this, I mixed the music and choreographed the dance, channelling elements of sleep paralysis. Before filming, I storyboarded my desired camera angles and transitions and chose a location. Finally, I edited the footage filmed by John Possemato, creating the final product (video above).

Video Editing

I am a self-taught video editor, using programs such as Adobe After Effects (2017-2021). I became interested in video editing a few years ago through the social media platform of Instagram. The examples below fall under the description of an 'Instagram Edit,' where fans of a movie, TV series, celebrity, etc create short video edits synchronised to music audios (often also edited by the creator).

BETH HARMON
FROM THE QUEENS GAMBIT

This is a video edit of Beth Harmon, played by Anna Taylor-Joy in the Netflix Original, The Queens Gambit. Through video editing, I get to express my interest and love for various characters, shows and/or movies.

Stage 1 of Editing Includes:

- Collecting & cutting the scenes from the original show or movie

- Changing the velocity of the scene to suit the music and preferred clip length

- Arranging the velocity clips in the desired order

TOPH BEIFONG
FROM AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER

This is a video edit of Toph Beifong from the series, Avatar The Last Airbender. I wanted to show that my editing skills are not limited to real-life celebrities but can also be extended to animation and images.

Stage 2 of Editing Includes:

- Adjusting effects and transitions using graphs and number formulas

- Final touches (smoothness, shakes, fades from/into black)

SMALL SAMPLE OF A VIDEO I WAS MAKING OF MY 2020 ADVENTURES (INCOMPLETE)

Although incomplete, this sample showcases my ability to not only edit videos and pictures but also things such as a computer login sequence. This is done through screenshotting the preferred scene (e.g blank desktop) and individually adding, manipulating and adjusting the other aspects, such as the mouse and typing dots etc.

This editing style is quite up-and-coming in documentaries such as 'Britney VS Spears' and 'Don't F*** With Cats.'
